Local Preaching

Congratulations to David Carter, who has been awarded a long-service certificate by the Methodist Church, marking 60 years as a local preacher.  It was presented to him by Circuit Superintendent, Revd Dr Teddy Kalongo, on Sunday 17th May at Yate Methodist Church.

What does the Holy Spirit do?

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in Alpha in different ways.

 As Alpha comes to the final scheduled session, we pray that every participant would feel valued and affirmed by their experience.  We pray that some individuals would want to continue their journey with Jesus, and for wisdom to know how best to support them.

Church Council - Thursday 4th June 7.30pm

This is an open meeting - anyone from Yate Methodist Church may attend though only council members may vote.  Please ask Naomi if you would like a copy of the agenda. We have a particular responsibility to appoint people to vacant roles at this meeting, especially church stewards, pastoral secretary and treasurer.  Please think about whether you could help with one of these roles, and support this meeting with your prayers.  Thank you. 

Sunday 28th June

There will be a Churches Together service in Kingsgate Park at 10.30am, and a local arrangement service at church.  Please sign the volunteer sheet at church if you can help with any role for the local arrangement including: Coordinating readers (pre-prepared service material available from Hilary or Naomi); reading; stewarding; projection; welcoming; counting the offering; refreshments. Thank you.

Lord Jesus, we want you to be at the centre of our lives.  May we be like salt and light, living in a way which is clearly shaped by your love, and sharing that love with those around us.  We pray for opportunities to bless our families, neighbours, work colleagues, friends, carers, and all we may meet.  In this Pentecost season, may your Spirit be at work in us all. Amen.

Date for your diary - coffee morning

On Saturday July 11th at 10.00am there will be a church coffee morning.  There will be an opportunity to contribute to the cost of the new Hymnbox through this event.

The Bible Course - another date for your diary

Starting from September we will be running The Bible Course once a month on Sunday mornings as a local arrangement service.  If you would like to be involved e.g. facilitating a small group, leading the introduction/close of a service or helping to plan, there will be a preparation meeting on Sunday 26th July, 4.00-5.30pm.  More information from the Leadership Team.
