The Week Ahead

Agrippinene welcome to the Week Ahead email.

This will be the last Week Ahead email until Sunday August 30th. Leigh and I will both be taking some holiday:
Naomi on leave - August 1-15; Leigh on leave - August 17-31.

Whether you are having holiday or not, I hope that you may have a break from routine and enjoy some refreshment.
With every blessing,

Naomi.

Exam Results Prayer

Loving God,

We thank you for all our amazing young people who are awaiting their exam results, at whatever stage they are at.

Lord we pray that they get the grades they deserve and will know to seek you in their rejoicing.

Lord we also pray for those who may not quite get the results that they desire, but we pray that they know their grades do not define them, only your love does.

Lord we thank you for your patience and your guidance at these times.

Amen

Genesis Padgett, Youth President 2025/2026

Safeguarding Training

Please Note that there has been an update to who is required to undertake the Foundation Module of Safeguarding Training, it is now a requirement that all members of Church Councils complete this course.  The course is currently valid for 4 years.

Naomi and I will be leading a session on 10 October at Watley's End (1000-1230), please get in touch with us if you need to complete this course and want to book, or if you're unsure when you last completed the training.

A full list of what roles require what level of Safeguarding Training can be found here.

September Changes

Many of you will be aware that the Revd's Sally Spencer and Samuel Uwimana will be leaving the Circuit this summer.  The Revd Peter Masvotore will be moving into the South of the Circuit, but the Revd Samuel Uwimana will not be replaced.

This obviously means that there will be some changes to pastoral care across the Circuit.  The key change for us is that Winterbourne Down will be joining the fold with us from 1 September.

Prayer for each week

August 3rd-9th

Father God, this week we pray for children and young people - for their childhood to be protected from the pressures of today's world; for young people to be protected from the stress of exams, the dangers of social media, the struggle to find jobs and the lure of addictions. Amen.

August 10th-16th

In our Mission Action Plan, we have agreed to try “Care packages for the community” this year.  May God continue to lead and develop this project for his glory. Amen.

August 17th-23rd

We give thanks for the volunteers who serve community groups based at Badminton Road.  We ask for that they would find rest over the summer.  May we work together well. Amen

August 24th-30th

O Holy Spirit, whose presence is liberty, grant us that freedom of the Spirit which will not fear to tread in unknown ways, nor be held back by misgivings of ourselves and fear of others.  Ever beckon us forward to the place of they will which is also the place of thy power.  O ever-leading, ever-loving Lord.  Amen.  By Bishop George Appleton (1902-1993)

Praying together

If you would like to contribute a prayer for September-October, please would you let Naomi  have your prayers by Thursday 27th August.  As we start the new church year, let's focus on the four areas of our calling: Worship, Learning and Caring, Evangelism and Service.

We continue to pray for the need in our church to have two or more Church Stewards.  May God guide us and prompt us as we reflect and pray.
